The observations are only brief but will include the activity the child is engaged in, which area of the nursery they are in and the level of involvement at that particular time. If medically necessary, Medicare will cover up to 72 hours of observation services. Observation services rendered beyond 72 hours is considered medically unlikely and will be denied as such.
